Air Conditioning Inspections TM44

Since January 2011 it has been a legal requirement to have air conditioning systems of over 5 years old and over 12 kW capacity inspected and a report lodged on the government Landmark website. Quality Assurance systems and sale or leasing of buildings will require compliance and enforcement of the Energy Performance in Buildings Directive (EPBD) is being handled by Building Control.

Letters seeking compliance with the legislation may use some or all of the following:

"The Energy Performance of Building (Certificates and Inspections) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2008 (amended 2013, 2014) Air-Conditioning Energy Inspection Reports"

Should you receive such a letter or want to ensure that you can avoid non-compliance and the fines this can attract please contact us at je.davidson@blgroup.co.uk or call 028 90 453325 (Business) 07954 701228 (Mobile).

Further information on air conditioning inspections.

  • BL Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Ltd can provide air conditioning inspections and reports across the full range of simple and complex systems and would be happy to discuss the legislation as it applies to your systems and to produce a quotation for the inspection and report if applicable
  • Under the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), an air conditioning inspection must be carried out and the report prepared in line with TM44 by an accredited energy assessor
  • The purpose of the inspections is to identify inefficiencies in the design, function or control of air conditioning systems
  • The inspection report will highlight where and how improvements in efficiency can be made thus providing the opportunity for reduced running costs
  • Many kinds of air conditioning systems from simple split systems through larger VRF systems and those using chillers and air handling units all fall within the scope of the legislation
